The unique, luxurious fabrics for this collection are meticulously designed by myself and printed on silk and cotton. The theme for this collection is Women and Culture. I took inspiration from women as depicted through the decades in advertising and illustration, and their roles in domestic life and in society. I designed the garments around the fabric print placements, as the prints 'inform' the garment shape. My intention was to infuse some meaning and history into women's clothing instead of using abstract designs so commonly seen in textile printing. This capsule collection includes five outfits: three dresses, top and trousers, top and skirt. The garment shapes can reflect designs from past decades, for example the 60s shift dress and the 70s flared trousers.
