Project of Conservation of Rural Landscape [The School of Rubblework]
"The School of Rubblework" is a system to match those who have experience of rubblework techniques, with those who would like to learn the techniques and those who have a farm to be fixed. The objectives include the passing-down of the techniques and renovation volunteer work, which will be achieved by learning the techniques through actual renovation work at an actual farm in need of renovation. A trainee participates by paying a fee, which covers teaching fees and any necessary secretarial expenses. This generates a small economy, making the system sustainable. By passing on these rubblework techniques, which have been handed down among farmers for generations but recently almost died out, in a new form, we try to support preservation of a landscape with terraced rice fields and terraced fields that are part of culture and resources in hilly and mountainous areas, from a technological viewpoint.
