Fiber Optic Elegance
What starts as a plate-style pendant is instantly transformed into an elegant highlight of any room with the magic and beauty of fiber optic cable! Titled “Chandelier 137.5” for the carefully placed perforations where the cables begin and end at 137.5 degrees from each other, the thoughtful arrangement takes inspiration from phyllotaxis – a big word for the arrangement of leaves on a plant stem. The artist strung fiber optic cable strands (connected to LEDs to emit light) through these holes, leaving various lengths of slack that allow gravity to naturally shape the final curves and form. Seemingly random, yet completely purposeful, the result is a balanced, symmetrical and beautiful form.
