The Apto has aesthetic and functional benefits. Bike stems usually have a front faceplate that holds the handlebar, and four bolts threaded in from the front. This makes the front view (the most common view) unappealing. By reversing the bolts, the faceplate design remains very clean and the stem/handlebar combination looks integrated. Furthermore, the 3D logo on the faceplate is removable, so it can be replaced with logos in 6 different colors to color-match the customer's bicycle. Removing the logo also reveals a slot, which can be used to attach an angle-adjustable BarFly computer mount.
