Because of the small site area (just 89 square meters) of this after-school shelter for underprivileged children, the designers had to make the most efficient possible use of the space. All of the spaces where the walls meet, including corridors and stairwells, are designed to allow children to freely read books and play games. Also, the gaps caused by the level differences are used for bookshelves. This unconventional space is designed as a sanctuary and playground in one.
