Café Europe
In the 1920s, "Café Europe" brought the culture of cafés and the Western way of life to emerging Japan. At the same time, it was the first workplace of the German pastry chef Karl Juchheim, the later founder of the eponymous bakery chain. Almost a hundred years later, the latter takes up the historical reference and re-opens "Café Europe". Its design plays with traditional motifs and translates them into a contemporary look. In order to convey the feeling of the original "Café Europe", hand-printed posters and postcards were produced, with contrasting colors and fresh pastel tones.
