Memorial room Würzburg
Working under commission to the Bavarian Schlösserverwaltung, Eydos designed a memorial room as part of the permanent exhibitions at the Würzburg Residenz. The room serves remembrance of the bombing of Würzburg. After the end of the war, US monuments officer John Skilton organized the saving of the ceiling frescoes by Tiepolo, and in doing so laid the foundation for restoration of the palace as a whole. Image and text establish a fragmentary contrast to the magnificent Rococo halls to illustrate the extent of the destruction. A previously unpublished aerial photograph of the city of Würzburg conveys an emotional signal.
