Based on airline business class, the PRoF 4.0 cocoons are half open patient units placed in the Patient Recovery Room of the Future. The patient sits or lies down centrally in the cocoon on a recliner and he / she can adjust position, light, sound, entertainment, environment and receive visitors. A medical calling system, reading light, storage space and refrigerator are within ergonomic reach. This concept allows 30 % more patients to be cared for per m² using the same number of staff. Through the design of the cocoon a fundamental problem is solved in relation to life cycles.
