Alicia is an unusual decoration fabric. The weave is airy, neither a net nor a grid, and seems to have been made by magic. The basic grid consists of parallel, overlapping circular forms which seem to be arranged in a square pattern. When light shines through it, the delicate weave presents fascinating shadow effects. Traditional "burnt-out lace" techniques were used to produce the modern design of this fabric: a water-based gauze is mechanically embroidered and then washed out.
