The VAIO S Series encloses internal components designed for the ultimate in thinness in carbon, magnesium and aluminum cases, which while being thin and lightweight are also resistant to pressure and impacts. Joints such as the hinges that connect to the display in normal PCs have been rendered invisible, with the surrounding area simplified to generate a sense of absorption in the screen, thereby enhancing concentration. This has enabled the use of wide palm rests, for stress-free typing. The rear surface produced by this configuration is distinctive, heralding the birth of a new design style for notebook PCs.
