As part of the Rhythms Series, the stool/tables were inspired by the irregular yet harmonic spacing of frets on a Guzheng (an tranditional Chinese instrument), reflected in the uneven spacing of the stools spokes. The objective was to stimulate a long-lasting engagement with the product through subtle structural variations. The designer enhances the flexibility of the multi-functional nature of a stool, via the stools playful, flip top design, providing a smoothly lacquered hard side and a soft, upholstered alternative on the reverse, allowing for a wide range of color and material combinations. Borrowing techniques from Chinese traditional crafts, MÜ creates light and elegant aesthetic structures.
