With two displays positioned back-to-back, Krystal proposes new and innovative applications. For example, when placing the device onto a piece of foreign text, the lower display scans the text and the upper one shows the translation. By pointing it at the surrounding scenery like a camera, it augments the captured reality with detailed information about local shops or navigational instructions. The e-ink display at the bottom is able to show widgets like a clock, weather or news with very little loss of battery power. The translucent, slightly textured center frame can display static or animated light patterns to communicate different modes.
