Why do light switches have to be square? Is it really necessary to continue to uphold this system concept developed back in the 1960s? These questions and others were pursued by Konstantin Grcic during a Merten workshop. He came to the conclusion that a circular break with the square system permits the formal designation of functionality since the popular German designer denotes power outlet/electricity as angular and switching as round. The round switch is part of the Merten M-series and is supplied as an integrated device in polar white gloss.
