The commercial objective of the project was to grow Terraillons share of the domestic water filter market in Europe. The design brief required a very compact design for modern urban environments as 63% of French households have only 1-2 occupants. Efficient design in terms of space and material use defines Arctic as a practical product that answers the needs of the market in an iconic & innovative way. From the beginning we were thinking of ice and ice cubes as a strong visual reference to fresh, cool water. This inspiration eventually developed into Arctics softened cubic shape which exploits its advantages in terms of space & volume.
