USBCELL is a new category of rechargeable battery, starting with the AA battery, that integrates a USB plug and circuitry to allow easy recharge from several billion USB ports in homes/offices without the need of an external charger. It aims to reduce wasteful disposable battery use by being more convenient and usable than conventional batteries. The AA battery was launched and went on sale in September 2006, with other formats due for announcement in Spring 2007
