Key to the Fuego proposal was the creation of an “island” form to facilitate both cooking and conversation. A new low profile lid system was developed to hide away when not in use. A cooking element drawer system was created to allow users to change cooking technology between gas, charcoal, and infrared. Additionally, electronic controls were introduced to manage time and temperature. Finally, a simple architectural form and detail approach features basic forms, use of slate and teak, and streamlined surfaces.
