iLab is an intravascular ultrasound imaging system used for the treatment of coronary artery disease. System contains more power and technology in a smaller footprint than any competing system. Cables are routed internally to eliminate clutter. Flat panel touch screen rotates and tilts for better use. After customers saw the clinical trial prototypes, the development timetable was moved up. No adhesives used in production. Plastic parts are coded for recycling. Powder coating used on metal parts to avoid toxicity of lacquer-based paints. Coatings and processes are certified as cadmium-free. Packaging materials include recycled content and vegetable-based inks. Materials used for production: Injection molded plastic, extruded aluminum, cast aluminum, molded rubber and formed steel. The design was created using SolidWorks.
