Audio Video Speech Recognition System
The IBM Audio Video Speech Recognition System is a wireless headset that uses both a microphone for audio and a camera to “read lips” and greatly improves speech-recognition accuracy in noisy environments. This device will be used to transcribe lectures in real time, record commodity trader transactions, and even aid in more accurate communication between air traffic controllers and pilots. The mouthpiece includes a microphone, a camera and infrared LEDs that function as a nondistracting light source for the camera. The ear piece includes the boom adjustment and a speaker for two-way communication. The disk at the back of the neck houses the battery, radio transmitter and the adjustments to fit the user’s head. The disk also counterbalances the microphone boom in the front to make the system comfortable to wear for extended periods.
