For the IF4000 knife program (6 items in total), material, action and form were re-examined in the context of modern cooking conditions and the latest material and production technologies. The result is a collection with simple improvements. The knives involve a smooth tapered oval cylinder that allows many different ways of holding and using a knife. The blades form has been created using a new technique of precision-forging and grinding allowing the blade to transition into a smooth shank where it meets the handle. The blade material is made from high-carbon stainless steel for strength and flexibility. The handle material is a combination of melamine and polyester, providing low-thermal conductivity it is cool to the touch, white and resilient. Its size-to-weight ratio is higher than thermo-plastics, helping to create a more balanced hold. The knife program includes vegetable, cooks, bread, carving, and general knives.
