The IBM TotalStorage DS6000 delivers enterprise-class data storage capabilities in a space-efficient, modular design at an unprecedented price. High-end performance and advance functions, previously found only in large disk storage devices, are now available in a standard, rack-mountable package. Features include high-density disk count, simplified fault diagnosis, and easy-to-replace components. By placing the server's control panel over the rack mounting locations, designers were able to fit 16 disk drives into a space that could previously hold only 12 drives, thus increasing storage capacity. LightPath diagnostics provide an easy method of fault diagnosis: a built-in indicator illuminates any failed components, with easy replacement, since there is no longer a need for tools.
