Inspired by tornadoes, this funnel design is based on the principles of fluid dynamics. The whirlwind-like mouth is made from six overlapping pieces, and the cylindrical tube consists of six pieces aligned to the mouth. An overmolding process is used to attach the small end, made of silicon rubber, to the cylindrical tube. A stopper is used to hold fluids in the funnel and to prevent dripping when the plug is pulled. When fluid is poured into the funnel, the fluid spins in a clockwise direction due to the overlapping steps inside the mouth and the cylindrical tube. The motion of spin generates a downward pressure that accelerates the flow. Moreover, the overlapping steps on the outside of the cylindrical tube guarantee a constant air flow back out of the vessel, thus allowing for continuous fluid flow.
