The architecture of Model S had to be designed entirely around the powertrain, with a battery pack flat under the floor like a skateboard and a motor and gearbox between the wheels. The Model S combines pioneering technology with timeless elegance. It was designed to maximize range and efficiency—built of stamped aluminum and designed with exceptional aerodynamics. The Model S delivers unheard-of range up to 265 miles. The batteries use automotive-grade lithium-ion cells arranged for optimal energy density, thermal management and safety. The battery pack and powertrain components of the Model S lie flat in the floor, giving the vehicle excellent weight distribution and rigidity: Because of the position of the powertrain, Model S offers luxurious space, seating for five adults and two children and a second cargo area under the hood. The highlight of the cabin’s functionality is the 17-inch infotainment touchscreen with Internet capabilities, allowing for streaming radio, Web browsing and navigation. Although a comfortably sized car, the Model S is agile, lightweight and lean, even with its generous storage capacity.  “Uncompromised” is a key word used to describe Model S: environmentally friendly, extremely functional and very attractive.
