The nonprofit One Laptop per Child (OLPC), formed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology by Nicholas Negroponte, is dedicated to creating and supporting an innovative child-sized laptop. Due to the remote destinations of the laptops, alternative methods for creating and harnessing power were needed. This solution needed to be easy to operate, resistant to the conditions typical of a developing nation while simultaneously fitting in with the brand identity. The OLPC Yoyo is an efficient mechanism for generating power while also being robust, highly functional and expressive.
