In a unique manufacturing process, aluminum sheet metal is folded and stamped to the very physical limits of the material. The result: the A/Design decorative bowl. The design team found that aluminum panels offer superior structural strength through the channels of corrugated ridges. Besides strength, the aluminum ribs produce a unique three-dimensional optical effect. The design process used the contours of the individual ridges to make the flux of distortion apparent—reminiscent of sand dunes or aerial photographs of plough furrows. Overall the result is an expressive, if unconventional, use of aluminum. Best of all, because it is lightweight and dishwasher safe, it is ideal for everyday use.
