An external keyboard with a built-in multi-port hub sounds like sheer genius
In appreciating this eureka moment, I can’t help but ask… Why hasn’t anyone thought of this yet? It seems so easy and sensible that I’d expect Logitech or Apple or Dell to have made it a norm by now. In hindsight, it does seem to defy their business model, because if you bought a Logitech keyboard with a built-in hub, you probably wouldn’t need to buy Logitech’s USB hub or card-reader.
Speculation aside, it seems that Stephen Chu may have made one of the most marvelous breakthroughs in the computer peripherals category. Say hello to the Kolude KD-K1, a sleek external keyboard with a pretty interesting twist. With circular keys that sit within a machined aluminum base giving it a neo-retro vibe, the Kolude KD-K1 keyboard is a visual treat with tactile scissor-switch keys that make it a great keyboard to type on too. Designed to be the sleeker brother of Lofree’s keyboards, the Kolude KD-K1’s twist lies right above those keys. Built right into the back-face of the KD-K1 is a USB hub, complete with USB-A and USB-C ports, an HDMI port, and two card-reader slots.
Designed to be the Swiss-Army-Knife of keyboards, the Kolude KD-K1 makes sure you’ll never have to bend over and reach behind a CPU to plug a pen-drive in again. Connect it to your laptop or desktop using the USB-C port and the KD-K1 comes alive with a myriad of possibilities. The multitude of ports allow you to maximize productivity by connecting drives, devices, displays, or cards to your main computer, right through the keyboard. Made to be the most versatile external keyboard on the market, the Kolude KD-K1 gives you the ability to stay connected, to multitask, and even charge your devices, right through the very device that sits underneath your fingertips. It comes with a full set of keys including a numpad and even a row of function keys on top. The scissor-switch keys feature a low-travel design that may not give you the clickety-clack of a gaming keyboard, but allow you to type comfortably and fast. They even come with a backlight, which is more than I can say for Apple’s Magic keyboard, and are compatible with all Apple, Windows, and Android devices. Heck, the KD-K1 even supports a variety of language formats, ranging from English to French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Taiwanese/Hong Kong Cangjie, Japanese, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese and Korean. Did I also mention it does the job of a USB hub too? You won’t need to shell out a single buck for one of those ridiculous dongles ever again.
