In many branches of industry, such as logistics and retail, incoming and outgoing goods have to be scanned regularly for inventory management purposes. Against this background, the Sema Whirling embodies a well-thought-out reinterpretation of a mobile barcode / QR code scanner that offers an innovative way of reading and transmitting data. The design of the device has focused particularly on solving the problem that conventional portable scanners require users to twist their wrists to find the right scanning angle, a repetitive gesture that quickly becomes exhausting and leads to fatigue over long working hours. Therefore, the shape of the Sema Whirling has been chosen so that the device can scan in all directions. It is space-saving and can be easily caught from the table. Operating in a wide angle, it is also equipped with a flexible display and a G-sensor, which automatically detects the user’s scanning direction and then lights up the display. Featuring five built-in scan modules, the device facilitates easy scanning in all directions and at any angle. A surrounding chrome ring features four scan trigger points for non-directional capture. The Sema Whirling is based on a modular design concept that allows quick changing of the scan module and thus increases expandability. In addition, the device can easily charge wirelessly. The ergonomic shape and a special antifouling paint finish ensure efficient and clean work experiences. The scanner thereby rests safely and comfortably in the hand.
