Ruutu
Glass vases from the studio of French artist René Lalique once captivated the fascination of their contemporaries. They were highly precious, hand-made creations featuring organically playful forms typical of Art Deco style. Ruutu, the new Iittala vase created by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, signifies pieces of glass art of similarly high craftsmanship quality, yet fully epitomises today’s zeitgeist. The vases with their flowing lines are mouthblown by Finnish craftsmen, turning each single vase into a masterpiece of artistic appearance. Another central aspect of Ruutu’s distinctive aesthetic lies in the shape of a rhombus marking their design. The vases unfold their delicate character both when arranged individually on a table and when grouped together into geometric arrangements, putting no boundaries on user creativity. It is the sheer limitless possibilities of combination that capture the fascination of Ruutu. The collection comprises ten distinctive, unique vases of different sizes that are available in seven shining colours. The Ruutu vases thus invite users to express their creativity in ever new installation. The vases can be arranged freely and come to life with their colour play in any setting. When placed side by side they create a special effect: the contrasting properties of the glass, its stiffness and durability on the one hand, and its delicate fragility on the other, merge into harmonious unity.
