Horological Machine No. 6 “Space Pirate”
The particular fascination of science fiction resides in the stories of unknown worlds that it stages. The design of the Space Pirate projects just such a scenario. Its organically shaped case and the four indicated “eyes” make it appear almost like a friendly alien from outer space. Having a case made of shimmering titanium alloy that is also used in aircraft design, the watch can withstand temperatures of up to 400 degrees Celsius. Despite this, the case is outstandingly light and offers good wearing comfort thanks to its rounded edge design. The watch’s exoskeleton is a fascinating element that signifies a bold reinterpretation of familiar watch design. Two of the four semi-spherical indicators in the corners display the time in hours and minutes – the other two are related to the automatic winding mechanism of the watch to reduce wear and tear. Another exciting detail is the 60-second flying tourbillon located underneath the central dome. The system is so highly sensitive that two semi-spherical, titanium protective covers are used to block harmful UV light. Furthermore, the watch showcases a sophisticated and incredibly spectacular clockwork: the real glass panel reveals how the delicate automatic winding system moves with the help of its axe-shaped winding rotor. It is details such as these that time and again transport owners of the Space Pirate watch into new, mysterious worlds.
