The jewelry relies on computational design processes to eternalize for expecting mothers the extraordinary moment that characterizes the genesis of a human being. The jewelry’s shape is determined by a dedicated software that combines two types of pregnancy-related data: the image of the fetus, as it appears on a printed ultrasound, and a recorded sound, which can be the heartbeat, a message or even a song. The outcome alludes to the position of the future child in the womb and is always unique, just like every newborn. The jewelry is cast in silver or gold, after being fabricated in resin by a 3D printer. This project received financial support from the Research Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ).
