Aeroad CF SLX
Aerodynamics are of enormous importance for racing cyclists. Since from a speed of 24 km/h upwards, air resistance exceeds all other parameters such as weight, mechanical and rolling resistances, the design of the Canyon Aeroad CF SLX concentrated on optimising aerodynamics. When designing this racing bicycle, the focus was on CFD analysis with all findings then being verified in a wind tunnel. The results then led to the construction of a special “aerodynamic profile” which the frame shape was then modelled on. With its optimised aerodynamics, this racing bicycle offers users new possibilities to further improve their individual performances. The cockpit consists of a carbon monocoque element with consistently integrated cable routing. The use of carbon materials for the frame also made it possible to reduce the total weight of this racing bicycle to less than seven kilograms. The aerodynamic qualities of the Canyon Aeroad CF SLX are complemented by a successful formal integration of all mechanical and electronic interfaces into the overall shape. It thus exudes an appearance of being made out of a single piece of material with a strict linear design that conveys the ideas of strictness and straightforwardness. The requirements for improved aerodynamics have thus been translated into the design concept of a racing bicycle that is convincing in every aspect. The distinctive features of purism and speed have been merged into a new language of form.
