Thomas Alva Edison invented the carbon-filament lamp in 1879. For a long time, it was the most important form of illumination and even today is still very familiar and a symbol of the spread of electrification across the world. The vosLED was designed follow on from this importance. It is seen as homage to the light bulb, whose shape was meant to be changed as little as possible. This new form of illumination should maintain the advantages of the traditional light bulb which, in the past, spread an air of cosiness, gave good illumination in all directions and had a well-balanced weight. Therefore, the form of the vosLED is close to the shape of a light bulb whilst giving it the possibilities of LED technology. This successful new interpretation is very light with balanced proportions. It is equipped with highly efficient LEDs which consumes much less electricity than its classical model. The minimalistic language of form is very impressive and allows the light bulb to be used in all environments. The design of the vosLED achieves a coherent formal evolution of the classic light bulb. A familiar tradition is consciously maintained in order to create something new.
