With the statement “The art of relaxing is part of the art of working”, American writer John Steinbeck described his conviction that a balanced work culture always includes convenience and comfort. Featuring a highly inviting appearance, the Deli chair delivers both seating comfort while working and moments of relaxation. Its design realises the idea of an attractive stackable chair with an organically formed seat shell. For its designer, Thomas Pedersen, the organic form of the human body served as an important source of inspiration. The design concept of the Deli was to create a perfect combination of an upholstered section and seat that provide support and comfort in all sitting postures. The curved seat shell seems to naturally hold the upholstered section in an organic embrace. Its ergonomically well-thought-out shape specifically supports the lumbar back region. The seat shell also offers somewhere for users to rest their arms for a more relaxed sitting experience. Furthermore, the appearance of the Deli is marked by the fact that its organic shape is interrupted by openings between the seat and shell. From a functional point of view this means that the chair can be easily stacked. The Deli chair can be used in a range of settings, from conference to auditorium-style chair – inviting people to linger for long.
