Three-dimensional images are fascinating in particular when they create the illusion of enormous depth. Depth in 3D display technology is generally achieved by superimposing two images that are slightly different and interpreted differently by the left and right eye. The design of the Lion 3D Camera reinterprets the possibilities of 3D display technology by offering a new approach toward a natural visual experience in daily communication. This 3D camera features an innovatively compact design and is unusually thin so that it takes up little space. The design concept of the 3D camera is based on the formal language of popular smart TVs and thus integrates harmoniously into current product worlds. In addition, the camera is very easy to use, enabling users to make realistic three-dimensional video calls or record high-quality 3D videos easily and intuitively. Offering a perfect interactive experience between user and camera, the design of the interface is also fascinating. It can recognise voice and gesture controls and offers feedback to the users’ operations through a softly pulsating light effect. The Lion 3D Camera is the result of a design concept which – through its interactive qualities and the idea of making communication no longer limited to two-dimensional space – opens up new dimensions in communication.
