Blackmagic Cinema Camera
The adventure film “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”, which features Johnny Depp in the role of eccentric Captain Jack Sparrow, cost 300 million dollars in production and thus was the most expensive film ever made in Hollywood history at the time. Although not all films are produced with such a high budget, the production costs for high-quality films are always high. Against this backdrop, the design of the Blackmagic Cinema Camera offers filmmakers new possibilities. The camera is very small, captures video at a level of quality suitable for Hollywood and costs much less than other digital cinema cameras. Offering cinema quality capabilities, it features a wide dynamic range of 13 stops to capture fine detail - even in high contrast environments such as bright sunlight and shadow, whilst also capturing fascinating detail in low lighting conditions such as a candlelit room. Also fascinating is the way the design of this cinema camera integrates all these technological elements for professional high-end filmmaking into an innovative housing with a small footprint. In addition, the camera also offers an intuitive user experience: a well laid-out touch screen interface offers users intuitive operation of the many fine adjustments required for this kind of filmmaking. The radical reinterpretation of familiar principles in the design of the Blackmagic Cinema Camera led to an entirely new form factor. With its innovative design this camera also opens up new paths in creativity.
