Conscious living and fresh food are two of the most vital ingredients of the current zeitgeist, says American author Michael Pollan. In his latest book titled “In Defense of Food” he defines the basic rules for a healthy diet, advising his readers to eat fresh food at least twice a day and ideally food grown in one’s own garden. With its sophisticated functionality, this fridge-freezer combination responds to these demands, complementing them with a high degree of convenience and understatement. At the heart of this “freshness centre” lies innovative technology that aims to keep vegetables, fruit, fish and even meat fresh up to three times longer. The inside of the fridge-freezer combination presents its content almost as if inspired by the daily changing offers of foodstuff in supermarket shelves: the generously designed double doors open in a flowing movement and provide both easy access and a clear view of stored contents at eye-level. The interior can be arranged flexibly with glass shelves at different heights to meet individual user needs; metal applications on the shelves and racks lend them the look of food storage boxes. Another highly consistent design aspect of this appliance concept, alongside convenience and functionality, is its light concept: flush mounted LED lights provide pleasant glare-free illumination – the foodstuffs in the refrigerator are presented as objects for enjoyment.
