Table B
In the early days of human aviation, the shape of airplane wings was inspired by the wings of birds. In particular, the wing-like designs by airplane pioneer Otto Lilienthal served as early models for the airplane construction principles developed later by the American Wright brothers. The design language of the Table B is reminiscent of airplane wings and their filigree constructions: this table uses aluminium profiles and showcases a well-thought-out and highly technical appearance. The tabletop seems to float in midair. The Table B’s language of form was developed in an interdisciplinary design process in which renowned engineers played a key role. The result is a highly versatile table that merges multifaceted functionality with an appearance of formal lightness. In order to meet the needs of individual living environments, the dimension of the Table B’s tabletop can be flexibly extended to a length of up to 360 centimetres; in addition, three different table leg models are available for combination. The table’s highly durable materials make it suitable for use both in indoor and outdoor areas. The Table B is the outcome of a complex manufacturing process and high technical standards. Yet, fascinatingly, its production also includes many manual processes until the table is finally finished. The Table B thus creates a bridge between industrial art and design – its visual lightness is inspiring to users.
