The Central Los Angeles Area High School #9 for the Visual and Performing Arts had to be organised as a campus with seven separate buildings. There were to be four buildings with classrooms and studios, three communal buildings that would be open to the public and include a theatre and a series of courtyards. The main idea was to create a tower on the theatre’s roof. This tower is a widely visible symbol for “Art” in the city. The theatre can be hired out to create additional revenue for the school’s art programmes.
