Scrape works like any other conventional garlic press by pressing whole, unpeeled cloves of garlic through the pierced holes of the hopper. An innovative addition, however, allows users to remove the remaining pulp and skin more easily: a spring loaded, thumb-operated scraper lifts the pulp out of the hopper. When squeezing the handles of the press, the skin of the garlic remains inside the press and thus can be disposed of separately.
