The KARMI tea canister was born from the advanced turnery technology of Yamanaka lacquer ware, a traditional craft of Ishikawa Prefecture. The canister protects the flavor of tea since it is not easily impacted by ambient temperature or humidity. The high precision smooth opening and closing of the lid were realized by careful wood preparation that over a period of months adjusts the moisture content in the wood to a suitable level, as well as by using the technique and intuition cultivated by the craftsman's experience over many years. There are a total of 24 variations, in eight forms and three colors, to visually distinguish the type of tea. The 350 cc container holds 100 g of Darjeeling tea leaves of standard size. The lid includes a scale for measuring tea leaves.
