The Total Landscape Design of KUROKAWA-ONSEN.
Lying at the edge of the Aso Kuju National Park, Kurokawa Onsen hot springs is situated in a quiet, lush region. Combining residential land and natural hot springs, the area features the Tanohara River, the source of the Chikugo River, which flows through the center, and the natural beauty of the mountains that surround it. A health spa resort, this region has a rich history as a spot where Edo-period daimyo (feudal lords) would stop during their travels. While it retains traces of its former glory, Kurokawa Onsen is also known for the residents' efforts to create a warm, small-town atmosphere that involves the entire community.
