Upholding the principles of the Harajuku Omotesando Charter and the Eco Avenue Declaration, the Omotesando Akarium is designed to create an ideal community environment. Composed of 60 LED (light-emitting diodes) akari towers (height: 6 m; width, depth: 1.2 m) set among approximately one kilometer lined with Zelkova trees, the Akarium emits a soft, harmonious light. This installation was lit up for 35 days from December 5, 2006, to January 8, 2007.
