Offering a computer that you can build yourself, Kano entered the market looking to develop a computer kit from scratch that would provide an out-of-the-box experience and move away from the traditional separation between product and packaging. The objective was to launch the Kano kit on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter with the aim of raising $100,000. The solution incorporates a Raspberry Pi computer board, with a new customisable case with all the components organised in a tray, which forms the outer packaging.  The design gives anybody theability to make a powerful computer wherever they are and offers a unified, playful and desirable experience. The response was quite staggering, with over $1.5m raised, a 1,500% increase on the target, and 12,338 kits sold, making it the education invention with the most crowd-sourced funding ever. Since the Kickstarter campaign ended, 3,500 additional packs have been sold with no more PR or marketing.
