Actual milk yield recording devices measure milk production of individual animals (cows, goat, sheep and buffalo) volumetrically using conventional technologies such as fill and dump measuring chambers and / or level measuring using arrays of conductivity probes. Disadvantages using these technologies: relatively large size of the meter, sensitivity for pollution, wear due to moving parts, obstruction of both air (vacuum) and milk flow. The new Nedap V-Flow milk meter uses optical sensing technology combined with smart software and eliminates all these disadvantages. Result: a small, nicely designed and maintenance free flow device.
