The master plan for the Lotus Square Art Center focused on achieving a minimal environmental footprint. This was accomplished in part through the use of renewable energy. The roof of the building, shaped like a fish, is planted with greenery and also collects rainwater. The exterior walls are made of so-called low-e glass, a material with a very low emission level. The generous windows ensure that natural light enters the building and also create a link between the interior and the areas outdoors.
