The term “Tai Chi” is a central principle of Chinese culture, which is referenced in the design of this facade. A light and a dark area represent the “Yin” and “Yang” elements of “Tai Chi”. These parts are complementary extremes that together create a unit. At the same time, the architecture was inspired by the aesthetic concept of “Tai Chi” as found in Ju Ming’s sculptures, whose clean lines and particular cutting technique make them very three-dimensional.
